The Lumen Christi Institute has been awarded a major grant from the John Templeton Foundation to support “In Lumine Tuo: Expanding and Sustaining the Catholic Intellectual Tradition Nationwide.”
In Lumine Tuo builds on the success of the previously awarded In Lumine grant and includes two distinct Requests for Proposals: the In Lumine Network Grant and the Ex Umbris (“out of the shadows”) Grant. Both will fund projects advancing the Catholic intellectual tradition at non-Catholic universities with programs addressing the intersection of three guiding themes:
- Science as a Gateway to Wonder
- Intellectual Virtues
- Noble Purpose for Flourishing
The In Lumine Network Grant will support free-standing initiatives and institutes within the In Lumine Network that are centrally focused on advancing the Catholic intellectual tradition at non-Catholic universities.
The Ex Umbris Grant will catalyze intellectual programming within organizations that have operational capacity to carry out programs in the Catholic Intellectual tradition, but for whom this is currently a peripheral part of their work, such as Newman Centers.
Applications due August 1, 2025.
